Greg Walsh was admitted to practice as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on the 4th of December 1976.

During the year of 1977, Mr Walsh commenced service as a sole practitioner at Chester Hill in Sydney’s South West.

In 2004 he moved his practice to Oatley and since this time has continued to operate a successful and professional law firm from this location.

Over the last 35 years, Mr Walsh has represented persons in both civil and criminal cases in Local Courts, District Courts, Supreme Courts, Courts of Appeal and in the High Court of Australia. He has appeared as counsel in civil and criminal trials, and in respect of disciplinary proceedings in the Disciplinary Tribunal (as it was then known) and the Administrative Decisions Tribunal.

Greg Walsh has served and continues to serve the Legal Profession in a number of capacities, including: President of the Bankstown Regional Law Society; Councillor of the Law Society of New South Wales; Member of the Criminal Law Committee, The Law Society of New South Wales; Complaints Committee, Legal Aid Committee, Legal Aid Commission; Legal Aid Review Committee, Legal Aid Commission; Chaired Victims Compensation Task Force; Member of the Interventionist Task Force established by The Law Society of New South Wales to assist legal practitioners; Member of Interventionist Task Force established by The Law Society of New South Wales to investigate and to establish a scheme to help legal practitioners suffering from subjective difficulties; Costs Assessor.

During Mr Walsh’s reputable and long-withstanding career, he has reached several significant achievements. These include:


Inaugural recipient of the Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award, The Law Society of New South Wales.


Chairman of the Victims Compensation Task Force. This task force was established by the President of The Law Society of New South Wales to examine the provision of victim’s compensation in New South Wales.


Awarded Golden Quill for Best Legal Article ‘Injury by Justice: Inadequacy of Ex-Gratia Compensation for Wrongful Conviction’ as published in the June 1994 edition of the Law Society Journal, NSW, Australia.


Awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the legal profession, and to the community, particularly through the provision of pro bono legal services.
